However, the report balance shows $20,405.58-which is a sum of the cost basis and gain columns. This is exactly what I see in Schwab AND when I list holdings in the register in Quicken.

Quicken releases 2017 updates for Mac & iOS personal finance apps. If you already use Intuit’s other budgeting tool Mint (see review later), you’ll really like Personal Capital because it’s got the same feel but with far more powerful investment tracking. Quicken 2017 for Mac is here and may finally be the Quicken that Mac users have been demanding for years with a fully functional Bill Pay, new interface and enhanced reporting features.

So far it has been a plus but when Schwab connected to Quicken and set up my investment accounts it created a PLACEHOLDER transaction for every security with. Personal Capital (Free) Personal Capital is the best personal finance software for Mac and best of all, unlike Quicken it’s actually free to use. So the market value of the holdings should be $17,931.42. Placeholder investment transactions-can I just update them with date purchased and cost basis I am one of the folks caught in the great Schwab debacle and I decided to just start over. But here's the thing: the report is listing my "balance" as cost basis + gain, rather than simply shares x price.Īs an example: I have 616.41 shares of a fund valued at 29.09. Now, when I run a portfolio report, I get 5 columns: shares, price, cost basis, gain/loss, and balance. If I look at "Holdings" under Schwab, all the share balances and amounts add up nearly perfectly with what is on Schwab's site (maybe a couple of cents off due to some rounding errors, but basically in sync). In Quicken 2010 for Windows, tax-related items are readily identifiable in the check register by a red check mark no such indicator is available in the Mac 2017 version.

One of my reports is a listing of Schwab portfolio holdings. If youre converting from Quicken/Windows, youll find that the conversion process added those transfers, but it wont happen automatically once you start using Quicken/Mac. I like to run basic reports that I can export to an Excel spreadsheet so I can have a periodic snapshot of all my finances in one place.
